Why continue suffering from herniated disc?
We have a treatment plan for patients in Woodlawn.
At Regeon Bone and Body Institute, we combine Limfa® Therapy, physical therapy, and targeted strength training to address the root cause of your pain and restore lasting mobility.
Understanding herniated disc
A herniated disc (also called a slipped or ruptured disc) occurs when the soft, gel-like center of a spinal disc pushes through a tear in the tougher exterior casing. This can irritate nearby nerves and result in pain, numbness or weakness in an arm or leg.
Often the result of gradual, aging-related wear and tear called disc degeneration, herniated discs can also be caused by excessive strain or injury. For Woodlawn residents, repetitive lifting, bending, or even prolonged sitting can exacerbate this condition, leading to significant discomfort.
Nerve Impingement
When the herniated material presses on a nerve root, it causes sharp, shooting pain traveling down the limb served by that nerve (radiculopathy).
Muscle Weakness
Nerves serve muscles; when compressed, signal transmission is interrupted, leading to potential weakness or atrophy in the affected muscle groups.
Disc Degeneration
As we age, our discs lose water content, making them less flexible and more prone to tearing or rupturing with even minor strain or twist.
